Car Insurance Puzzle

Has anyone else had an experience like this:

Two months ago I changed my car insurance to another company (called Local Broker), simply because they were cheaper. Last week I received a letter from them saying that they were going to cancel it because they hadn't received all the documentation, despite letters (which I hadn't received). I phoned them up to find out what they wanted and they said it was a copy of my drivers licence. (This was after 10 mins of trying to locate me on their system.) They needed it for ID as I had for a discount as a I had no NCB. I asked if that was all that was needed and they confirmed it. Relieved, and perhaps stupidly, I sent a copy. I received another letter from them this morning saying they still needed further documentation: "Copy of 1sr car insurance." I have never had a car insurer ask for all of this before. So out of frustration I have cancelled.

Has this type of thing happened to anyone else?

The only thing Ive hadto send off in the past is a copy of my no claims, now they dont even ask for that so I dont send any documents off. I usually use big compnaies though like Direct Line, Esure, Norwich.

Sounds like too much hard work, maybe phone around some of the big companies esp Tesco they have deals on I think at the mo.

    Is this adrian flux..?

I took out the policy, told nothing about information was needed to be supplied, and received a bad letter 3-4weeks later telling me they were going to cancel unless i could send copies of licenses, club membership, ncb proof etc.

Too busy to give you the price, though not to busy to tell you all the terms post payment is made.

Insurers and brokers are required to send you a statement of key facts before you sign up. This should contain any policy contingencies, such as documentation requirements. If they did not then they are breaching FSA guidelines. If they did and you did not read it then...........
