I recently sent an item that as lost by the royal mail, worth around £60.00.
I refunded the buyer after 15 days had passed.
I will begin a claim with the royal mail next week.
I posted using 'recorded delivery'.
Some people have said that I might get nothing from them which would be very annoying.
I remain hopeful for now and think that these people are wrong, because I got all of my money back the last (and only) time this happened, and that was using just standard delivery.
Anyway, it got me thinking, as I am getting a few items to sell on as of Monday, and pretty much all of the items are worth around £50.00.
Should I always use TRACKED delivery for these items? Would you?
It would eat into my profits a fair bit, but I want to know that i'm covered when things get lost.
Do you have rules where you say ''if item is worth over X amount then send using this delivery method'' etc?
If I get the full 46.00 compensation from 'royal mail', i'll kind of have my answer, and will be happy to roll the dice with the cheaper delivery method, knowing that i'll at least get MOST of the money back for when things go missing.
Wanted to know others' thought on this.

The sticky postage thread explains it all. Personally anything over £46 goes special delivery for me with the correct insurance. I *might* gamble on standard post for something at £47-£48 if incredibly heavy, but only if I had completely misunderstood my market and had sold an item for £50 when I was expecting £3.99I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
