All the better ones have AC motors but the Babyliss is the real bargain at £20 delivered with a 5 year guarantee, can't go wrong without spending a bomb.11th Heaven prizes Number 103

I can recommend the Vidal Sassoon hairdryers. Mine's a 2000w, and I got it in Argos a few years ago and it's still going strong. I think I paid around £20 or £25 for it. I find the travel ones don't have quite enough oomph, and they are not really built for regular use.
I always use a travel dryer, have done for years as I find normal sizes hairdryers too big & heavy. As long as you get one with a decent wattage (at least 1800) they are fine, in my experience.0 -
Ever since my first pay packet, I've bought Babyliss AC Motor hairdryers and would never change.
You're the same age as me and I'm the same although last time I needed a new hairdryer I needed it NOW and couldn't get a Babyliss so I bought a Phillips Treseme model which is very similar.
The Parlux models look interesting though....
I have loads of thick hair so need a high powered hairdryer, for those with less or thinner hair a lower powered hairdryer might be OK.Piglet

Sorry I'd never heard of the paralux but it does have a good review0 -
I have the Babyliss Belissimo dryer. Its really powerful and to be honest find it too powerful, it blows my fine hair everywhere but where i want to go!! Granted, blow drying skills arent great, but i feel thet i'd have more control with a less powerful dryer. Something to consider. I let it dry naturally nowadays after a quick blast of the roots with my head down, then brush when dry with a pure bristle brush.£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190

I just got my first ionic hairdryer, a babyliss one. Before that I had a clairol big shot that was about 20 years old! I'm so pleased with my new one, although it is 2000w, it feels cooler and gentler than my old 1500w. It also dries my hair much more quickly and leaves it really smooth and shiny. I wouldnt have believed a hairdryer could make that much difference but now wish I had changed years ago.0

I was excited to buy an ionic dryer........read it would do wonders for my hair. It certainly didn't. i have rather fine hair and the ionic made it limp and almost greasy looking. In summary, they don't suit everybody.0

Oh dear. I have very fine hair too & wouldn't like my hair to look limp and / or greasy.
The reason I want a new hairdryer is to achieve the opposite. Looking for more volume & certainly not wanting my hair to look greasy.0
