Recommend a hair dryer

I have recently started to dry my hair with a hair dryer. Never used one in ages & the one I have now is a very old travel hair dryer, which to be honest, is pretty naff.
Now my experience of hair dryers is very limited. So am hoping someone can recommend a hair dryer which isn't to damaging to my straight fine hair.
I mainly want to use it to dry my hair using just my fingers. Not bothered about using brushes or anything fancy like that.

I use just a little travel dryer with a short handle (the long handles get in the way I think) in my opinion a little dryer like that is adequate for finger dryingBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

Ah never thought about how awkward a bigger handle could be.
Still need a new one tho', so if anyone knows of a decent travel hair dryer, it would be appreciated.0 -
I like a hairdryer to have a cool setting as that is what I use to dry my hair, otherwise it ruins it.
I've got a Tresemme one that I bought cheaply in Tesco.0 -
I can recommend the Vidal Sassoon hairdryers. Mine's a 2000w, and I got it in Argos a few years ago and it's still going strong. I think I paid around £20 or £25 for it. I find the travel ones don't have quite enough oomph, and they are not really built for regular use.
There's a couple here:

Wahl are also a good make, I think.0 -
I've seen online recommendations for Parlux:

This link shows good reviews but the price is not the cheapest.
Apparently many hairdressers use it.

If you do get one please let us know what you think. I'm thinking of getting one too."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -
Many thanks for all the replies.
I will have a look at all of the hairdryers recommended & let you know how I get on. Going to get my OH to buy me one for my birthday0 -
Ever since my first pay packet, I've bought Babyliss AC Motor hairdryers and would never change. The first (£50) lasted me 12 years of daily use, the second (£30) lasted 14 years (still going just fancied a more powerful one) and I've just bought my third (£20) and expect it to last just as long. They really are professional fast hairdryers, designed to last long after all the other brands have burnt out and are useless. They're not that expensive either - here's my latest one which I love! - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004IO51KS/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B006B3PQRC&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=04FFVC0Q89XEBBAB6XA111th Heaven prizes Number 103

I've got a parlux, really can't recommend it highly enough!! It's not the cheapest, but I've had many hairdryers over the years and it's definitely the best one I've found.0
