penalty fare notice letter from revenue protection support services

Hi all

My son has received a penalty fare notice letter from revenue protection support services based in Portsmouth, saying that he travelled from A to B and did not have a ticket on 28/11/12

The problem is my son does not go out unless he is with me and I know he was asleep all day as I was home with him.

Does anyone know how the appeal process works and what I can use as evidence if needed.

Anyway, I think you have 21 days to appeal the fine so do it in writing.

They never seem to answer their phone or you end up in a queue for ages on an 0870 number.

I suspect you will just get bog standard letters back so start gathering your evidence for the day in question and await your court case (obviously jumping through all the hoops they will put in your way first, until you lose the will to live)

Where are A and B actually? And where was he really?

Sounds as though somebody has given his name and address to cover their own tracks which is nasty in itself. There should be CCTV of the person - it may be that your son knows who it is.
