Virgin trains?? Manchester

Hi - sorry if this is already covered.

I wish to travel from Manchester to Edin. Previously lived near Burnley and Blackburn and managed to get cheap Virgin train tickets (£11 singles) as long as booked ahead enough. Currently (past few months) can't seem to get them from Manchester or Blackburn or Burnley. Has Virgin stopped doing affordable train travel? Seems odd when Megabus is so cheap. I would prefer the train as going to Edin from Manch by bus means going via Glasgow - bit cheaper but longer journey.

with thanks - Urk

You can still get a Value ticket, I have used 2 this month to travel to London, have a look on www.thetrainline.com and choose single fares. If you book 14 days in advance it's really cheap, but you can get a 7 day saver and a 3 day saver too. They limit the number on each train and I think they are only offered on quieter trains.Might be worth looking at Preston to Edinburgh too, you can get a train from Manchester to preston no problem.
    Hope this helps.
