You appear to be considering an 18%+ premium for fixing your tariff for the next 12-18 months.

Whilst no one can say for sure what will happen to prices over that time, I think with such a premium, I would take my chances on a variable rate tariff currently, particularly if it also doesn't have any early exit fees :)

Is this a common occurrence? I wasn't aware that utility companies paid you a loyalty bonus after 12 months? Anyone else experience this too? Thanks

No, each supplier has differing terms - all mentioned on the comparison sites

e.g. Atlantic credit the 13 month back free after having paid 12 monthly direct debits

nPower often give their discount for paying monthly by DD as a lump sum only after 12 monthly payments have been made (most other suppliers apply this discount to each bill)

Ovo are quite unique in offering 3%p.a. tax free interest (equivilent to 3.15% after VAT is taken into consideration) on accumulated credit, applied to each bill (typically monthly).

    Thanks David!!
This tariff didn't come up on MoneySupermarket.com, as above, but has with EnergyHelpLine.com. It says £59 more pa than my current variable, Online Energy Saver 17 which gets pulled end of March.
So nice to see this!! Surprised its not mentioned in the MSE newsletter? It's a better rate than EDF's Blue which has been emailed for the last 2 weeks...

I have a query on your other product, Platinum Fixed Energy April 2015:
    http://www.scottishpower-boilercare.co.uk/products/platinum-fixed.aspx

Yes, it's £177 more (at (£2,042 as opposed to current £1,835), however it includes the premium service boiler cover, inclusive of £14.08pm, which is in fact £168. So am I right in assuming I could get the cover, and fix my rates, and in effect be no worse off at all, ok £11-ish?

The boiler & radiator cover alone is normally £16.90pm, so £202.80pa... so really saving money?
    http://www.scottishpower-boilercare.co.uk/products/homecomfort-premium.aspx

Happy for others to comment too! (Is boiler/radiator cover really worth it?)
I know I want to get it for a rented property, not sure for my own...

Take MY word for it I would not tell you If it was not true Why would they single me out all these YEARS for special attention Go to their websites or phone them it's all there to read or hear

Hi George, out of interest I'm on an N-Power tariff that credits £100 after 12 months, although I thought it was on your bill not a refund to your bank a/c you pay the DD from. I made my First payment by DD 1st. Feb 2012 and my 12th. DD has just gone out 2nd. January 2013 3 days ago. How long did you wait after your 12th. DD for the refund?
I ask because N-Power are rogering me as from 3rd. Feb, by putting me on a standard DD tariff which is 46% dearer per unit of electricity and 32% dearer for gas. Thus I will be switching in the next 4 weeks and don't want to jeopardise my £100.

BTW George you know how they make this £100 they give you? Look at the horrific standing charges - 45p per day on gas and 38 on electricity - compare this for high teens low twenties standing charges per year and you'll see how the £100 was easily made plus more.......:mad:

    This is a bit silly...
Logged into SP web service as an existing customer, change service option...and the Sept 2014 tariff is not even there!
Yet it's on the SP website. I clicked on that and it said I am already a customer, so log-in....

Compliant has been registered via the email address stated above by SP rep.
    Thanks

Called SP on a local landline number:
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/556007
    0141 568 6806 and got straight through.

Nice lady put me on the tariff straightaway, paying £2 extra a month on my current DD's to get fixed. Still no trace or reply from my email though, despite going through to the complaints dept, as stayed on hold and they never answered.
