Where can I pay money into Santander 123 account.

My partner and I are seriously thinking about opening a Santander 123 account. However, a major concern for us is how and where we can pay money into the account. Our nearest branch is 20 miles away in derby so we need to be able to pay in money to the account locally and without paying over the counter charges. So apart from paying into the account directly at a branch how else does one pay in. Many thanks.

Is it cash you want to pay-in?
I presume you have another bank account (with a nearby branch). Pay the cash into that account, than transfer it on-line by Faster Payment (arrives usually within minutes).0 -
Try your local Post Office, most allow free deposits and withdrawals to/from various bank accounts.0

I have a feeling the PO only offers counter services for old A&L, and for Santander Business accounts. http://www.postoffice.co.uk/branch-banking-services#withdrawals_&_deposits
bengal_stripe's suggestion would work fine though0 -
if you have another bank/savings account that lets you pay by faster payments you could set up a new mandate for santander.. taking care to make sure that the sort code and account number are correct to avoid falling into the trap of making a payment into someone elses account.0

This is what I do - my nearest Santander branch is 8 miles away - therefore I pay any cash or cheques into my local NatWest Branch (2 mins away) and then transfer the cash over via Faster Payment (obviously waiting for any cheques to clear first).0 -
We did this the other week too. Didn't want to walk to the other side of the city centre in the rain to go to Santander to pay some cash in so paid it into Lloyds TSB which was nearer and then used mobile banking to faster payments it straight over to Santander
The OP could also just treat the Santander account as a bills account and faster payments enough from their current (presumable more conveniently located) bank each month into it to meet the £500 funding requirement and get the cashback on the bills and then faster payment the cashback over to their spending account once the £2 account fee had been took each month0
