Do they really just give up on you in the end? They seemed pretty tenacious...
They will, in the end!
You will probably get loads of letters, phone calls. Then Westcot will possibly pass the debt on to another debt collecting agency. But they are all the same, insignificant, petty minded, bullying little thugs. They have no power or authority to do anything.
Treat them all the same.
Keep copies of all correspondence to show that you have attempted to resolve this issue, and if any one does take you to court (less than unlikely) you can then show you have tried to resolve the problem.
If you get pestered with telephone calls, shout and scream abuse at them, or leave the phone off the hook and walk away. They will soon move on the someone else.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
I found a great letter on here asking for proof of liability. I'm going to send one to BT and one to Wescot. I'm not sure though if they would have needed a new signed credit agreement for a RECONNECTION which is what the bill relates to. Well we can but try!0

I've just phoned BT and apparently you don't need a signed credit agreement for a reconnection but if he has proof he wasn't living there then there shouldn't be a problem. hmm.... why do I get the feeling this isn't the end of this?0

Well the letters have been delivered according to Royal Mail Track and Trace.... Now we wait!!!0

Good luck, it seems extremely unfair that your husband has to pay a debt that he is not physically responsible for.0 -

Wescot and signed for the letter I sent them... According to Track and Trace BT haven't signed for theirs yet... Hmm wonder what we'll get from Wescot? Will keep you posted!!!0

Wescot have written back and said thank you for bringing this matter to our attention etc.. They admitted they occasionally (!) get it wrong although I'm betting this is a pro forma letter. The case has now been passed to a different department... And so we wait... Again!!0

Well we got a letter from Wescot this morning saying that they had investigated the matter and they wouldn't be taking it any further. They also said they'd updated their records and his credit rating would be unaffected. Another victory for MSE!!!!!
Thanks for the suggestions chaps!

Well its reared its ugly head again!
Another solicitor working on behalf of Wescot is chasing him for the money again. Despite the fact Wescot had closed it. Apparently BT are asking them to have another go.        :mad:0
