Confusion over ESA..

A person:

In reciept of DLA @ MRC and LRM.
Long Term InCap with Age Premium. Just swapped to ESA Cont, Support Grp.

Partner claims Carers Allowance. This is topped up by about £18 per week IS.

Live together as couple in Council house.

No savings.
Full HB and CTB.

How much ESA should thye get?

Do all the ESa Premiums apply:

Carer Premium
Disability Premium
Enhanced Dis Premium.

Obviously they cant claim the Severe Dis Premium.

Would have thought that the ESA should perhaps be income related type and not contributions type myself. That way they would get the EDP etc. Assuming that they are not at moment getting it. The ESA would be higher as well.

You can only receive one Income Related benefit at a time, so as your partner is already receiving Income Support, you will only receive Contribution Based ESA.

THE ESA(CB) will either be £105.05 (71 + 34.05) or the same a your old IB payments if they were higher.

Any premiums will already be payable with the IS.
  • I read somewhere that the partners IS would stop as the ESA would be increased.
