Would I be stupid to take voluntary redundancy?

I think it depends on the job market in your area - remember to add on a figure for your pension when negiotiating job offers (I'ld do 30% less what you are paying in).
I took voluntary redundancy - did take a while to get another job - 7 months but lovely, spent with children and got another job with a salary and pension match. A year later got another job with a 30% payrise so in my case has worked out very well.
I know a lady who was our PA, she was early 50s took vol. redundancy for a similar amount to you, got another job (via an agency) within 3 months. Don't know the new salary but was civil service and my guess was it would have been roughly a match though initially on a one year temporary basis. Maybe worth contacting recruitment agencies to ask their advice. If it was me I'ld probably take the voluntary redundancy payout assuming the jobs market is OK in your area.0
