Housing benefit / shared house query

Hi
Hope I am posting in the right place. I was wondering if anyone had any insight into this situation. I currently live with my civil partner and rent a home from my mother. We both work full time and receive no benefits. We have been struggling to pay the rent for a while now and have been considering getting another tenant to share with us to lower the amount we would chip in. My partner's nephew has just been made homeless. Would he be entitled to any housing benefit if he shares with us, as he is currently on JSA? I have been reading online that you cannot if you share with a close relative. Also, legally he is her nephew, but biologically he is her half brother as she is adopted by her grandparents. Can anyone give any advice on how this would impact the situation?
Thanks
A very confused lostcause!!

Will your landlord allow him to move in? If so, and he is formally living there, he will be able to claim the shared rate of LHA. He is not related to the landlady, so that should not cause a problem.0

My mam is on holiday at moment so will have a chat with her when we get back. We were going to have a friend live with us before and she was fine with that, but it fell through. I had read on shelters website that close family can't live together but my partner is legally his aunt and it didn't mention aunt in the list of close relatives. The local council office is open tomorrow so going to have a chat with them if they can see us.0

No, close family cannot live in the same household as their landlord.0 -
If you both work full time, is there a reason why you are struggling to pay the rent?
Is the rent extortionate - which seems unlikely if you are renting from your mother? If so then move somewhere else?0
