    If she's getting £500 pcm on top of her SMP/CB/CTC, why does she need to borrow a large sum from you - surely a couple of months or so would see her with the money in her pocket?

    Thank you I think that's possibly our best bet. Just worried we might miss out on properties going at the moment because Council offices are closed for the holidays but better safe than sorry! :)

    The council offices will be and are open as normal except for 1st Jan for all UK and also the 2nd if you are in Scotland.

    Babies don't come cheap unfortunately - and that £500 is being saved for nursery costs which will be over £1000 a month - she'll get help with that as well I know but as that's an unknown factor at the moment.

    I am in Scotland. They closed on the 28th and are not open again until the 3rd Jan.

    Roll on the day that maintenance is included in the figures for benefit purposes. I think its on its way.
