Airline for Man to Akl?

Looking for some flights to Nz, have used Emirates before and was happy with service, but just looked on airline reviews and people are complaint about how unfoftortable the seats are, which is a big deal when you are spending 24 hours in one.

Looked on sky scanner and Qatar are coming out cheaper anyway.

They look ok, but anyone travelled this route with them?

    What about Singaporeair?

  • British Airways, the properly British way to get anywhere. If not, avoid emirates, their bl00dy ife boxes under the seats severely restrict your legroom. Qatar are also nice, but to be honest, I'd just choose whoever is cheapest or BA, depending on how British you feel.
  • Singapore would be my first choice, have flown with them once years ago and they where great, but remember last time round they were about £1k more, we are a family of 4, was 2 children, but as we now have a teen it's classes as 3 adults and 1 child.

Have also flown BA in the past, was not that impressed to be honest.

In the end it will come down to price.

    Will look into Qatar more.
  • If you get the flight code, you can put it into flightradar24 and see what tail code/aircraft type the aircraft they are using.

You can then use this to google away any potential aircraft being used on seat-guru etc.

Whilst aircraft may change, it gives you a good idea of what you probably would be flying on.

Read up on people having problems connecting in Doha and what you'd book to avoid them

My father has flown through Doha countless times, with no problems at all. If you look at reviews, you'll find someone complaining about everything and anything, the fact is if you are travelling in economy the experience is going to be pretty similar on any carrier.

FWIW I dislike Dubai airport, but I would not tell someone to avoid it purely on my experience.

If you really want comfort for the long journey then you have to fly in Business class. Failing that, there is not a great deal to choose between the various airlines.

As you note, Emirates provides good service (probably second only to Singapore). On some of their 'planes, many of the seats are cramped because of a box that provides entertainment but uses up too much of the legroom. I think that this is more of a problem on their Boeing aircraft than on their Airbus ones: check sites like SeatGuru and/or AirlineQuality and be very careful what sort of aeroplane they would use for your journey.

We flew Manchester to Hong Kong with Emirates in August, they are the best airline we have flown with and we were only in economy. Would fly with them again anytime. Just wish they did flights direct to US from Manchester.

Well what the hell were you trying to say then, because it sure looks to me like you're suggesting Doha as a place to avoid?
