Here's news for you. You are part of society. Your kids are going to be part of it. Or are you going to sheild them from life altogether? What a narrow minded view, part of going to school is getting an overview of other people warts and all. Your kids are going to have such a culture shock when they find out that life isn't the sweetness and light bubble you appear to be creating.0

Op, you are living in cloud cuckoo land.
Yes, it may give you a bit of breathing space but unless you change your lifestyle drastically your expenditure is still going to be higher than your income. Until you sit down and get the budget to balance its only a matter of time before this all comes crashing down around you.0 -
Is the plan your wife will give up work, but you will also make some really big cut backs? Do you have a plan to pay off the rest of the debt? Can you make a realistic budget that balances with these new figures?
I wondered too if you were planning on using part of your gift to live on for a while to make up your shortfall, but what happens when that money runs out? If the plan to sell the house what if it doesn't sell quickly?
Please think carefully, make sure your figures add up and think how the decisions you are making now will affect you further down the line.
You mention you got into debt in the first place by enjoying a life you couldn't afford and in your update you again seem to have come to your decision how to use this money thinking about how you can have a better lifestyle and "enjoy life a bit more!", but really your children deserve/need you both to start being financially responsible and use this money wisely. Maybe your gift is bigger than we imagine and you are able to keep juggling all the balls, good luck if so x0 -
WOW, I've just spent ages reading this whole thread only to reach an anti-climax! What the hell?!
Did OP win the lottery or something? Gifted £50k when he sounded so so desperate at the beginning of his dilemma.... wow, I'm just sorry for everyone that wasted precious time giving valuable advice
I've just wasted 15 minutes reading this thread, really impressed with all the answers and help given and then find that's 15 minutes of my life I won't get back!!:(
Sorry OP whilst I don't think you're intentions were malicious I think it was trolling and you should be slightly ashamed of yourself.
Everyone else who took the time to give advice and even research mortgage options for them you should give yourselves a well deserved pat on the back.:TEvery Penny's a Prisoner.

I agree and if anything I've learnt (from reading replies here) that private education isn't such a prvilege or as fancy as I once thought. I was particularly touched by the girl that posted about her experience of private education and how her parents lost everything whilst trying to keep her there (not knowing that she actually hated it the whole time)Debt Bust LBM 01/01/2013 - [STRIKE]£11,115.28[/STRIKE] £10,593.81

That won't work.
You can't expect NMD's children, to live in the same house as people who rent. :eek:0 -
Since the OP has gone AWOL, I suggest people stop giving advice as it's falling on deaf ears - OP has admitted to receiving a very generous 'gift' and seemingly no longer needs help....
I find it all very suspicious. This man and his wife have relied on credit to get IVF and subsequently spent more and more once their twins were born, living beyond their means. OP came here for help because there seemed no way out of their £81,000 of debts, OP allowed numerous (kind) people to help with his dilemma only for OP to suddenly receive a gift in excess of £50,000 .... (I think 'gift' was closer to £80,000) and then he disappears off the face of the earth...
I don't buy any of it.Debt Bust LBM 01/01/2013 - [STRIKE]£11,115.28[/STRIKE] £10,593.81

To be fair the OP has probably been working all day, he only posted yesterday. I don't think there is any need to say stop offering advice etc, yes they have ignored most of it so far, but some people take longer than others for it to sink in. People offer advice and it up to the OP if he takes it, we don't need to deal with the fall out if it all goes wrong, they do.0

No... still not buying any of it
I became more interested in other peoples' perception of private education than his so called dilemma... just my opinion of courseDebt Bust LBM 01/01/2013 - [STRIKE]£11,115.28[/STRIKE] £10,593.81

The OP logged in earlier so he has either read the replies and put his head back under the parapet or he has gone for a rethink0
