youtube clips onto a psp

I know how to save clips from youtube (think they save as a .flv file) but how would i convert them to go onto a PSP?
I've not purchased a PSP yet would an version of firmware be capable of this or only an older one, like you need for playing copied games?

Am a PSP novice so any advice greatly appreciated.

    This website: Vixy.net converts youtube videos to various formats (AVI,MOV,MP4 for PSP etc).

    PoochyChoo.....I use firefox plugin "videodownloader" to rip youtube videos...they will save a s an .flv file as Glenbat says so you will need a FLV player to view.

    I use tubesock and it works great!
    It costs £7 but you can pay through paypal.
    Downloads for Mac or pc and can be played on video iPod.
    There's probably a converter out there for your format.
    Free is good!

    as far as i'm aware, all psp firmwares are capable of playing videos.
