Infinity good, wireless PC bad...

I had my upgrade to Infinity 2 today :-) and a new BT Home Hub3 to go with it. The work Laptop and my wife's laptop connected up straight away with just the new SSID & WEP key. However my own PC isn't playing ball; it's an old Dell running XP Home with a USB2 802.11g external wireless adapter, and is saying it cannot see the new wireless hub. Running the BT setup CD says the same. Anyone any ideas, before I try buying a new wireless adapter?

Have you tried using the 'join a different network' link then entering the SSID manually? How do I add a signature?0

yes, sort of; I used the wizard to setup a new wireless network, put the SSID & WEP key in there...
additional info - the home PC is sat right next to the work laptop in a downstairs study, the Hub is upstairs with the master socket as we have an overhead wire BT feed. It's about 12 feet up through the ceiling as a direct path. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
The Home Hub should be using WPA/WPA2 Personal encryption, not WEP.How do I add a signature?0

If your laptop is set up as WEP you need to change your settings to WPA/WPA2 otherwise it will not find the BT Hub as this is going to be on WPA by default. If your laptop dongle does not allow you to select WPA then you can buy a new WIFI "N" key which will be better and cost only £10

And check the laptop is using the same channel as the hub. They may be different.0
