Gammon for sandwiches

Gammon stock makes the most delicious lentil soup. Mmmmmm!
I expect there are lpenty of offers on gammon at the moment but I always buy mine in Lidl or Aldi. It's generally £3.99 for a kg joint and it's delicious as a meal or in sandwiches. Probably using a SC is the simplest, cheapest way of cooking it (I add an onion, carrot, peppercorns and bay leaf).0 -
I buy my gammon joint in Aldi too - usually the large which is about £4.99 but this time bought the extra large at £6.99.
I have had so much meat off it its unbelievable! I slice it and put about 4 slices between greaseproof squares then put it in freezer bags and freeze. I must have enough to make sarnies til easter!
I cook it the same way as hope - the way my nan taught me! I add a teaspoon of vinegar though - nan said it 'cuts the fat and makes the meat more tender'. no reason to disbelieve that as Ive never had a tough gammon joint!
funny thing is - I dont like it myself! I buy it for OH and no1 son!1
