Yep - I suppose not having a Neff slide away doored oven in display doesn't help, but we never get asked for it.
I would say our appliance sales in terms of volume are pretty evenly split between Miele and Siemens. However I would like to sell more V-Zug, you just can't beat their steam combination oven.0 -
We were initially going to get a double oven and in the end sided with a good single plus a nice panasonic flat oven/microswave/grill. Basically its a small cavity oven but probably more useful for us. It will fit a good amount of extra vegetables or our smaller lasagne dish in. It makes cracking baked potatoes much quicker than the normal oven as it microwaves to cook the inside and also ovens them to make them nice and crispy. Great defrost function that doesn't cook meat (pet hate of mine).
Ok so the cavity is smaller which can be annoying as you can't fit full width oven trays but it is generally more than big enough as an auxiliary oven plus it should be more energy efficient when we are just cooking something for two as it only heats a smaller volume. For steaming our veg we just use a hob top steamer - not sure I would ever get a steam oven.0 -
A single oven and a combi micro generally costs more than a double, but you are getting more funcionality for your money, and getting your microwave off the worktop.
Also CK and Ryders point about the lack of availability of Pyrolitic double ovens is a good one. Though often you pay extra for a lot of functions on ovens that most people would never if ever use, Pyrolitic cleaning is one that is seriously worth having on your main oven. At that end of the day can anyone truly say they love cleaning ovens;).
A combi micro/grill is a useful piece of kit and combined with a pyro single oven, is a much better option to my way of thinking than a good old double oven. As others have said, the rest of europe left them behind years ago.1
