Scottish Power. Econ7. Meter Reading query

Hi all,

Got a quick question about supplying meter readings to Scottish Power.

My old flat was single rate meter, this flat is an Economy 7 meter. Low reading at the top, Normal underneath. On the website the boxes you enter your reading in to aren't labeled "Low" and "Normal", but "Electricity (1)" and "Electricity (2)".

Which is which? My rough guess is that Electricity (1) is the normal rate?

(I would ring them up but my mouth is rather numb from the dentist and can't talk properly :rotfl:)

Any help would be great.

    Do you have any previous readings recorded against the meter online? What are they compared to the readings you have now.

    mine is :

    - rate1 = expensive day rate
    - rate2 = cheaper night rate

    Yours will hopefully be the same, unless someone previous has them back to front, then all hell will follow. Enter your reads each and every month for smoother billing, enter them here Technically, and the reason they don't tell you which, depends on the make and manufacturer of your meter, as well as the area that you live in, my meter is an AMPY like this.

    If you want to establish beyond doubt [E7 - NOT - E10] which reading is day and which is night :

    - take a meter reading around mid morning
    - take another late afternoon
    - the reading that has advanced will be your day
    - the reading that hasn't changed will be your night

  • Hi DialUp, the best way to find out what "1"or " 2" equals is to see which register moves during the day hours of approx 8am till 12pm, usually the day rate on modern digital meters is rate 1, but could just as well be 2.

    Reading the meter isn't the problem, its the Scottish power website that says 1 and 2!
