old cds make good scrapbook albums or hanging pictures, 3 can be linked so they hang beneath each other (design and print a scrapbook picture to stick on each disc and drill holes in each disc)
Like that idea...........hadn;t thought of that. My teenage grandchildren would love something like that.Mary

One of the springs that hold the drum in place went on my washing machine. DS made a temporary replacement with a wire coat hanger and that was at least 2 years ago!'Yaze whit yeh hive an ye'll niver wahnt'

Reminds me of when we borrowed my in-laws' car at Christmas a few years ago. The exhaust got a hole in it, so my DH did a bit of a make-do temporary job until the garages were open again. He got an old coke tin, cut the ends off and cut it down one side, then slid it over the hold and attached it on with some kind of tape. We forgot all about it until about two years later when my FIL mentioned that he had just had to have a new exhaust. So it lasted well!0 -
I use a cutlery tray for storing make-up and brushes. It is easy to lift out from the bathroom sink cupboard and place on the sink so that I can use the mirror, and keeps different types of item (eyes, lips etc) separated.0

If you use tinned food for your pet and they don't eat a full tin, the plastic top off a Pringles tube is ideal for popping over the top.0

Many thanks for this thread - just read it all the way through, phew!
I am using a Pringles tube with the lid slit, then the whole thing covered in [free] Fablon as my piggy bank for the Sealed Pot challenge. Even the Pringles were free - BOGOF at Xmas!If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0 -
Help please, I'm amassing a collection of Lidls metal capuccino coffee tins with plastic lids which seem too good to be thrown away. I thought they be useful for OH to use in the shed for nails etc but he doesn't want them.
Any ideas welcome0 -

Well, I can't think of any ideas other than general kitchen or workroom storage, but have you thought of putting them on Freecycle? (Go to www.freecycle.org to find your local group.) I'm sure there must be lots of like-minded people locally who would be able to find a use for them.
Hope this helps,

If I was in Uk I would use freecycle, but we live up a mountain in Spain and attempts here to set up freecycle haven't been successful. Thanks0 -

Ah, that would complicate matters somewhat, then!
Depending on the size of the cans, I would personally use them for: children's craft items, plasticine/play dough, sewing oddments, receipts, money boxes, packets of seeds, small Christmas tree balls, pencil holders, pulses, tea/teabags, to keep spice jars and sachets together in the kitchen cupboard, packed lunches and collecting small recyclables like foil and batteries.
A friend of mine in the US buys Folger's coffee, which comes in re-sealable plastic 'cans' with a recessed handle. I am told that the combination of handle and lid makes them useful when travelling with car-sick children, (also for the occasional over-indulged or hung-over adult!)
