My friend turns 40 end of January and Im struggling to think of a suitable birthday present.
Shes quite thrifty so buys a lot of clothes and shoes in the sales, so got a packed wardrobe. She doesn't read apart from shades of grey
, fussy about perfume.
I was thinking of spending about £25 give or take.
Shes a community nurse, got 2 kids.
Thank You :j

I had a couple of friends who turned 40 last year and did the following, and it was well received:
Party in a bag (just used a gift bag):
Bubbles
mini bottle of wine
party poppers
'whizzy' balloons
nice wine glass
box of chocolates
Survival kit - 40 things to celebrate your birthday
Some of the things I put in were:
Ball of life (foam ball) - fondle it constantly
Blue tack - to help you stick with it when the going gets tough
Button - to remind you that some things are best left unsaid
Coin - so you'll never be completely broke
Glitter - to add some sparkle to your life
Gold thread - to tie our friendship together
These are just some of the 40 I made, and most of the things I used, I had in the house anyway, so money wise it didn't cost much, but time wise it did as I did a lable for each one, and sealed each time in a cellophane bag:

Both times made these survival kits, I also did a bag of papering bits for a nice soak in the bath, as both friends have kids, and there only 'me' time is having a good soak in the bath, so I gave them:
tealight holders with tealight
nice bubble bath/soap/shampoo (the brands I know they like and use)
nail varnish
some chocolate too2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000 -
I've bought for quite a few 40ths over the past year and have spent the money on one nice item to mark the occasion.
It really depends on the person and what you think they'd like. Indian head massage? Something lovely from Jo Malone? Small item from somewhere like Mulberry? Art or ceramics?0 -
