Im not sure you will get 4x salary with car finance and credit issues.
i could be wrong.
Also do you have anything in joint names? Are you financially linked at all?
when the time comes, get your credit files all 3 of them and speak to a mortage advisor. With all respect, forget what you think and let them do the work - thats what they will be getting paid for.
Ive been doing this job for about 18 months and i still have opinions before i start researching for a client - sometimes the outcome is better than i had initially thought, other times its worse. Let someone research they might find you a joint mortgage or a sole mortgage, either way if you ask them to look into it you might have a few different options.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thats why we thought about doing it in my sole name and not jointly as my history will be clear with no debts, no defaults etc for six years.
The 4x is based on my salary on my own, if this was jointly it would be considerable less, more 2x income.
We are not linked in anyway, everything we possess is in each others sole name, nothing we hold is joint. Not even bank accounts.
I have a friend who is a mortgage adviser, they work for a tied company, large lender though! She feels that we will struggle no matter what, she says that lenders will do a credit check and based on what I have told her so far, she feels affordability wouldnt be an option but bad history for us, either jointly or singluar is not promising0 -
If she is tied, she presumably can only go off the lenders she uses or has used.
If ex bankrupts can get a mortgage why cant you?
It sounds like you have already started to lean towards what you want to do. Personally i would be seeing a whole of market or independent mortgage advisor. Get the best advice you can, it will potentially save you money down the line. Why go to someone who possibly doesnt have access to all the adverse lenders? It makes no sense.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thanks, might be best to speak to an independant adviser, your right if people who have been bankrupt get a loan, why should people with bad credit (hopefully won't be once applying) be able to get on the property ladder. We're looking at the cheapest 2 beds in my area, can't look relocate elsewhere as his job needs him to be local.0
