The 'Whoops' section Crazy Folk!

Jeez, I feel especially sorry for the workers in ASDA the last couple of days - been in there twice myself and both times I have witnessed revolting, rude and greedy folk snatching items out of the hands of the staff reducing items. That combined with someone loading about 20 packs of reduced going-off-the-same-day chicken kievs into her trolley which was already brimming full with yellow stickered bread and people pushing each other around to get at a few manky sandwiches...urgh, what is wrong with people?
I know times are hard and I appreciate things can be frozen etc but I really do think the whoops section brings out the proper scummy nature of certain people. No manners, no thought. Just greed.

You presume incorrectly - I got what I wanted to get when I had originally decided to go shopping. What I did not get were 'bargains' that I neither wanted or needed just because they had a few pence off.Comping wins this month: 2 x business class flights anywhere we like | Horse vitamins (!) | New kettle | Motorcycling prints | Signed LPs | Thanks to all!0 -
I've had this happen to me. I went to the reduced section in Mr Ts and I was barged out of the way by an enormous man who proceeded to fill his cart with pots and pots of chocolate mousses. He stopped for a second so I went back in and took one pot to look at, he gave me the dirtiest look I've ever seen and snatched up the pot as soon as I put it down.:j Tehya Baby DD 22/03/2012 :j

i think it can be annoyiong when people take things for the sake of it.
Also depends on the whoppise price as well. at certain times they would get better value for money going to the BOG and 1/2 price items at the end of the isles than whoopsie.0 -
Stop the press!!
ASDA attracts peasants. :eek:0 -

This is why I no longer work with the public. I myself used to work at Asda many years ago and christmas time at the 'whoops' trolley was an absolute nightmare, as you say I was often fought to the ground over a reduced fruit salad or similar!
There is an obsession with saving money (hence why this forum is here!) which makes some people go too far with it. I myself would never buy anything from the whoops trolley as like you say, it is generally manky crap hence the reduction. The truth is there are lots of manky, scratty people about so whoops'y food is like a meal out for them, a treat if you willDisgusting...

Has anyone got the translation key for this? My Enigma machine declines to do it.0 -
I used to work in a Sainsbury's in the city centre. Every night, an hour before closing, the usual suspects would show up and lurk. If I was doing the final reductions (about 10pm anything in the whoops section went down to 5 or 10p. The reduced items would have been reduced by 50% at around 7pm) I would end up getting quite annoyed as these guys came up with baskets full of reduced price stuff they'd collected a while earlier and now wanted reducing to 5/10p. They'd be thrusting it under my nose shouting "reduce this next".
I was once told "hurry up and f*cking reduce this or I'll smack you." I mean seriously, an attitude like that, and it was over a pack of dubious looking chicken thighs. It's amazing the attitude some people get over some cheap food!0 -

This obviously won't have been funny at the time but did make me laugh (sorry)
I used to get the same, they oick it up at 20p, walk around the store for half an hour then come back when I am reducing again and ask to mark that down too. I used tell them to f' off! It was a !!!!! job, had no intention of staying there so never took any !!!! from customers. I almost expected the sack but it never happened unfortunately0
