Yes I applied at the time that I signed on and was told that it would be 6 months before I would get any help, they also explained the interest only aspect too. Looks like I'm stuffed.

that is just awful. I wonder what the logic behind giving you £15 was, it is a useless amount of money when you have nothing but the clothes you stand in. I suppose they were giving you enough to put food in your cupboard, it's not enough to buy a second set of clothes though (along with the food, plate, cutlery, pan etc. etc. that you NEEDED at the time). The thing is it is a loan and you will have to pay it back, so they could have given you a bit more. Did you/could you have appealed?
I was about to cancel my contents insurance due to lack of income, might have a rethink now. Well, at least until I have sold all my possessions to put something towards the mortgage!0
