Why has it gone up so much?!

Hiya

I used to live in a 2 bed terrace d my gas and electric bill was about £650 per year.

Ive recntly moved to a new house in the same area and the bills are coming in to equate to about 2 grand a year!

Now i realised it would go up but should it increase by almost three times?!

My last bill okay it was in Feb-March about 4 weeks use was 4x more than my previous bill the year before in a different house. Even though I have drastically cut or thought I had cut usage, by turning timer on boiler just for a few hours per day my usage is still much higher than in my old house, so I no how you feel. I cant continue the usage next Winter otherwise I will be living on bread and dripping.

I also lived in a 2 bedroom terraced with new boiler and a gas fire, I now in a 3 bedroom semi, no gas fire only coal and a reasonable new boiler.

Only think I can thing of is there little or no insulation and of course bigger house but we do use less heating now, in fact we are not using any for days and its still a little cold on a evening.

I am getting insulation sorting soon warmfront coming tomorrow to look at my claim

Well i know the boiler i have is knocking on a bit and i can certainly see a bigger house equals more energy but seriously an extra £1300 a year definately wasnt in the budget!!!!

Im hoping it may have been a blip whilst we had workmen in doing the house up if the heating was higher due to them leaving doors open etc......wishfull thinking though me thinks!!
