need some advice

:A Hi I'm new here and i need some advice. Man i hate Microsoft lol

I bought an Xbox 360, about 14 months ago and now its started playing up, i keep getting an intermittent hardware fault. i phoned Microsoft to see what they would do about it and they have said they have a policy of not sending replacements, but i can have it sent out for repair is this normal and is it right that they don't give replacements? i thought it was within my consumer rights to get a replacement if the item is faulty? Also i have had a problem with it scratching my discs, luckily it has only done it to one but Microsoft's policy is that xbox doesn't scratch discs unless knocked but mine is in a TV cabinet lying down so it cant be and it has damaged the disc so bad it wont read. So i have spent 50 pounds on a game (more fool me) for nothing and i don't know what to do about that either.

Please can someone help me i really don't know what to do I'm disabled and don't have the money to throw around like that :( so all i got to look forward to is a busted game which makes no difference because i will be console-less for up to 15 days. I know this isn't tragic but id just like to know where i stand legally as a consumer

    Hi angel,

Sorry, I'm not legal, but am sorry to hear of your woes.

I'm thinking that maybe much as it's a bloomin' nuisance that Microsoft have probably offered all they're going to offer at this stage in so far as taking it away for repair.

Re: the faulty disc, could you take it back to Woolies or wherever you bought it and say it's not working. You could tell them that Microsoft have said it was defo not the console that damaged it, and therefore you presume it must be a fault with it. That must be true if you're sure you didn't damage it yourself.

Good luck with getting yourself back up and running. Just think of it as a bonus 15 days to spend on MSE!!
  • oh well eh looks like ill have to live without lol

It is the xbox that has scratched it. its 2 big concentric circular scratches, but microsoft say that its not a recognised fault so they dont have to replace the disc, they say it only happens if the xbox is stood on end and knocked or moved. Unfortunatley this isnt the case as mine is lying down in a tv cabinet and being disabled am unable to move it lol

oh well 15 days on here might not be bad i can have a good moan about not having my console lol, im sure you ladies will love it. Thanks for your advice too :)
