Hi, am new to this forum so hope I have posted in the correct place.
I recently (Early Feb 07) sent off for a full list of my bank charges/ statements from the Halifax bank, using the template letter from this site.
I heard back from them on the 7th March with a letter saying that copies of duplicate statements would be sent under separate cover, if i haven't recieved these within 21 working days I should contact them on the number provided, the 21 days expired on the 5th April and still no signs of the statements
I have tried ringing the number and keep getting put on hold for ages so have given up trying them.
I have got quite a lot of my old statements dating through 2004-07 and have listed and calculated the charges from these (£2500!!!!) but was waiting for the duplicates to arrive to fill in the ones I have not got.
Do you guys think I should claim for the ones I currently have and then claim again when (if!) I get the copies from the bank for the charges I haven't claimed for this time, or wait until I get all my statements and do it in one go?

Firstly I'd advise to save on your phone bill and put it in writing, recorded delivery, that they have failed to fulfil their obligations under the Data Protection Act and you intend to report the breach to the Information Commissioner. It may speed things up a bit.
Unfortunately the banks are snowed under with requests for details and whilst that is not your problem it does mean that there are delays which you can do little about besides reporting it to the ICO.
You can reclaim the charges you have proof of but I would advise to be very careful of any conditions the bank will set for settlement. Do not sign anything to say you will not claim future charges or in 'full and final' settlement. Make clear that any settlement accepted is 'partial and without prejudice' pending receipt of your full details under the DPA. Above all do not estimate any charges, you will need proof of everything you are claiming.
Good luck whatever you decide to do
