A couple were left fuming after a traffic warden gave them a £70 parking ticket outside their own home as they carried their paralysed son to their car.
Just ignore the kids names... :rotfl:

Bloody hell no common sense at all, couldn't this be a case of a council not making reasonable adjustments for a disabled person ? Could they make a claim under the equalities act on this ?When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

In my eyes yes on the surface it seems the council have not made a reasonable adjustment for the family. When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0 -
They could apply for a disabled bay outside their house - but they appear not to have. Is that the council's fault?0

You don't need a disabled bay for an 'assisted alighting' exemption.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Even had they done that, it wouldn't affect the fact resurfacing work was taking place & restrictions in place, rendering the space useless.
Although i'd rather some discretion/common sense was used in such situations than tax payers money being spent on road markings outside the house. Leaves more money to spend on things that actually matter.
Councils these days seem to think one rule fits all, in reality it doesn't work like that.0 -
Poor PR for Birmingham Council.
If a ticket is successsfully appealed at the adjudicator stage, the council should be forced to pay the person they ticketed £100. That would soon stop dead the appeals going to the adjudicator to overturn the council0 -
another thing thats throwing a spanner in the works is sloppy journalism, garbage like this http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2012/dec/23/private-car-park-fine is the reason why many new posters are asking about a change in the lawstopped briefly in a club carpark to collect some keys. A week later I received a "Parking Charge Notice" demanding £60 within two weeks, rising to £150, from a private parking firm. Apparently there are notices telling visitors to enter the club and pay a charge to park; as it was dark I did not see them. Many consumer websites advise ignoring these private fines as they are unenforcable in law. Should I contact the company, or simply sit tight and call their bluff? TR, Ottery St Mary, DevonBefore 1 October you might have got away with that, for the registered owner of the vehicle was not bound to admit that they were the driver, and only the driver was liable for breach of contract or trespass.
However, the Protection of Freedoms Act makes the vehicle's registered owner liable for fines from members of the British Parking Associaton if they decline to identify the driver. The BPA, of which the company in question is a member, requires notices of charges to be clearly visible, so if the club signs were obscured in darkness you might have a case for appeal to the new independent appeals service popla.org.uk.
If a parking dispute does end up in court, your case will be weakened if you have not appealed your fine. If, however, a parking company is not a member of the BPA they are not allowed to obtain registered keeper details from the DVLA and there is no independent appeals service, so the AA's advice is to gather evidence in your defence and wait for them to take you to court. From the Plain Language Commission:

Theres also a huge amount of material online, such as the ASDA blog, that i disocvered after a quick search on google....
the article os from 2008, but its still there, un editied.
http://your.asda.com/news-and-blogs/tackling-parking-problemsLisa Oxspring from Asda’s Service and Communication team says security for most of Asda’s car parks is run by an independent company, Town and Country Parking.
“We were getting a lot of customer feedback saying we weren’t doing enough to protect bays,” she says. “Town and Country Parking were brought in to monitor bays and impose fines. We were the first retailer to do this and in the main the reaction was very positive.”
Caption competition anyone? From the Plain Language Commission:
