I received confirmation today I will be paid, but they said that I will not receive benefit for the 1st three days......appeals process enclosed

Its really unclear whether this is specific to me or a general rule which is applied? I am intrigued

anyone know

I think it applies to both JSA & ESA - DWP do not pay benefits for the 1st 3 days, but there may be exceptions where they do.
I know that when I started up my ESA claim in Feb 2012, that I was told I'd not be paid it, but because I had just gone from SSP to ESA, apparently I was to be paid it. For me I had already had those waiting days at start of my SSP, so I guess it was deemed not to make me have another waiting period. So I should think the same rules apply to JSA.

ok, just nobody mentioned it at anytime, and the paperwork gives appeals procedures so presumably they end up with 000s of appeals from folk who read it as a decision made to them personally, rather than simply a generic rule which is applied to new claimants
