Chuffing Egg Bank!! Ancient settled defaults still showing as owed!

Options
I went to my mortgage lender today to get a new fixed rate and further finance to fund my car for work (for which I get car allowance, so can run a new/newish car).

Went through the application process and everything was good (including sickening the mortgage guy when he realised I was on a damn sight more than him :D)....

Until.....

Credit check...

Refused application as I apparently am CURRENTLY in DEFAULT for 'over £5000'

Got home tonight and got my Experian credit report and all green lights, except one yellow and THEN I see that.....

Chuffing EGG flaming Bank are showing CURRENT DEFAULT BALANCE of £9721 for an Egg Loan and an Egg Card that I paid off IN FULL when I moved house 5 YEARS AGO.

I have been in the deep doo-doos in the past, with over £35k of unsecured debt, but that's all in the past now.

No wonder I can't even get a new mortgage with my current mortgage lender (of 13 years) !!!

Similar problem with these T***ers apparantly its their company policy not to remove defaults or anything. Had a huge row with an advisor about it and got absolutely nowhere, However they should be showing it as settled. I intend to check mine next month and then have another row if it doesnt show as settled.

I thought defaults cleared or not showed for 6 years and then you can have them removed.
  • Egg didnt settle my account 16months ago when i paid them up, after harrassing me with 9 debt collectors for the 15 months when i was paying them token payments, I didnt count their telephone calls and letters.

They've only closed the accounts 2 wks ago, when i wrote for statments, they've sent an inch thick lot of papers with no statements, to my old address, despite being informed by ID proof that I dont live there.

I really need someone legal to help me with this, if I was healthy and up to a fight I'd do it myself, but not well enough to.
So somebody help me please!! point me in the direction of a good legal expert I dont believe they can harrass and not settle accounts without getting in trouble.
