Hi all,
Sorry to disturb you all on the bank holiday but my boiler has broken down again at the worst possible time..it has come up with a HF fault on the display and cannot be reset..I am completely without hot water or central heating :-( ..i have insurance but engineers are not working til tomorrow at the earliest..
After this fault,I have also notice water dripping onto my kitchen worktop from the boiler and i'm not sure where this is coming from..any ideas on what I can do..?..i have looked at the manual and the HF fault is most likely the flame detection electrode I believe.

leak inside the boiler got onto the pcb, needs the leak repaired & a new pcbI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Well the boiler displayed the FH fault before the leak occured so surely the leak was after the FH fault...it is still dripping slowly even though I have switched off the boiler.the display is still showing correctly so doesn't this mean the pcb is fine?0

what does the boiler do when you try to reset it ? if the fan starts & it tries to fire it may just be the electrode but if it doesn't do anything i would say pcb, just because it has a HF fault displayed doesn't mean the pcb is ok, unfortunately these aren't very good boilers & are prone to failureI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Thanks for your kind reply..
Reset does not do anything..i do have a insurance plan and they came out today and ordered a heat exchanger which they said was leaking,a pcb and a flame detection electrode...the problem is they wont come until 03rd jan which means no hot water or hearing for a week :-(
I did ask that they write off the boiler and pay me a subisdy towards a new boiler but they have refused this..i have a 3month old child and don't know what else to do as i cant really bear waiting a full week..?
The plan btw is with domestic and general..i have asked a senior manager to call me so here's hoping they pay me something so i cna get the boiler replaced or pay me to get my own engineers in?..has anyone dealt with D&F before?..what are the chances of this?0 -
hf is flame detection short circuit error
either replace flame detection electrode or
replace pcb0 -
unfortunately with the xmas period parts might not be avalible, however i cannot understand for the life of me why they aren't changing the boiler, the cost of the parts they have ordered is over £700 alone without the cost of the labour to replace them, this is def a case of beyond econimical repair, the boiler was crap to start with & it's going to be just as crap after the repair
if the boiler doesn't do anything it's pcbI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

My local parts supplier showed me an email from Ideal boilers they received about 10 days before Christmas.
It said that do to high demand for spares, any orders placed after this email, would not even get looked at until the new year.
Typical Ideal rubbish customer service.0 -
Thank you very much for your help..I cannot understand why they havent written it off aswell to be honest,i have now had to put up with no hot water or heating this weekend as D&G could not change the date of repair so I escalated the fault and a senior advisor will now call me tomorrow hopefully..any ideas on what i should push for.?
Also i have been told the vaillant 937 is a very good boiler but the older version is better that the new version as the new one has had a few problems..can anyone get hold of the older version and also is there another type of boiler like this which would be recommended..?0 -
A quick update on this whilst I hope D@G call today...i switched the boiler on today and it came up with a d even though no taps were on..after a few secs, this changed to 0 and when I turned a hot tap on, the water came through fine then after 30secs, it goes to LF...the reset button does work and doing this took the boiler back to 0...any ideas on what this points to..?0
