Hi,folks, sorry if this has been asked before-is the combined phonecall/sky mix/broadband package from Sky at £26 monthly a good a deal as it sounds?
You have to keep BT line rental with the deal- and as we have that still with our tesco bills only and sky family package with BT broadband we reckon we pay @£66 for all that so we would certainly seem to make a good saving with Sky offer.
Anybody any advice? -many thanks!!

Sky Family Pack (6 mixes) £21.00
BT line rental
£10.75
BT Broadband
£17.99
Total
£49.74
So, your monthly Tesco bill for calls is about £16 is it?
If that £16 is exclusively spent on calls to UK 01/02 numbers at evenings and weekends (i.e. no other numbers, no weekday daytime calls) so your call charges on Sky would be zero, the Sky £26 package must save you money.
Your costs would then be:
Sky Family Pack, CPS & broadband £26.00
BT line rental
£10.75
Total
£36.75
£13 saved.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Just make sure the cheap broadband is available in your area first . Only available to 50% of the UK at the min.0

Heinz-yep,my calls with tesco are @£16 pm,but you are right-I do get unlimited calls with that deal ,so probably Sky would not work out so cheap when they charge me for daytime use.
Food for thought-thankyou to both of you for replying.0 -
I have the sky package for £26 (since march 10th) and have no complaints so far, everything went smoothly with regard transaction from previous ISP. I have taken the sky talk (which I must point out that you can leave at any time as this part is not under contract) and just seeing how it goes. My first proper montly direct debit will go out on 6th May and I shall see how my day time calls fair, after which I shall decide whether to go for sky talk unlimited which is £5 a month bringing total monthly payment to £31.
I am at the moment saving £13.99 a month since switching from last ISP. I was with ntl freedom broadband and talk was £24.99 and I had sky tv at £15 (two mixes) total £39.99 a month. However I decided to go with 6mixes and have £26 a month sky package, which includes the MID broadband up to 8mb, and my speed is good which is on average around 7mb. I did check the line speed before ordering to see what the capabilities of my line was - the result was up to 8mb.0
