Corrosion on letterbox

We had a new Veka composite door fitted just over a year ago, and we're very pleased with it. We have a problem with the door furniture though. We had a silver coloured letterbox, handle & door knocker fitted and they corroded over the winter last year. The firm we used replaced them and said they had never had this problem before, but now the letterbox has started corroding. I'm sure it's coming from the road that has been treated during the icy spell as we live on a main road.
I'm going to contact the installer again after Christmas, but I was wondering does anyone on here know of any door furniture that wouldn't corrode like this? There's a 5 year guarantee with the furniture and we're about 18 months into the guarantee. TIA, C.C.L.

what material is the furniture - if its stainless steel it may corrode in an environment thats treated heavily with salt = you would need grade 316 to give better protection. we live by the coast and most metals just rust away0

Thanks for the reply, I'm sure they're aluminium. It doesn't actually say in the paperwork, but I'm sure aluminium was mentioned.0 -
More likely than not it will be anodised aluminum which does corrode in harsh environments. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

Thanks for the replies, I'll ask the firm we bought it from and see if they have any non corrosive ones.0
