Neff Dishwasher PP-TV20; Detergent compartment will not close

can anyone help me please. we have an old Neff PP-TV20 dishwasher which until last night worked fine.We do not use it daily and on average only use about once a fortnight when we have guests. we set up as normal and put the detergent tablet in. However I believe early in the wash it fell out and now the detergent compartment will not close. This also means the dishwasher will not start. can anybody give me any advise or a simple solution. It not worth calling an engineer and we intend to replace in the summer of 2013 so are looking for a short term fix.

Just chuck the tablet in the bottom of the dishwasher. all that happens when you turn it on is that the tablet door pops open and the tablet falls out anyway. If it wont start with the tablet door open, then seal it shut with something and do as above.
