I have heard that small speciality within a bigNHS trust never had a head of nursing but suddenly last year one appointed. They also have a lead nurse and two modern matrons who were upgraded from band 7 to 8.
But at same time they have redeployed, downgradedsome band 6’s with further reduction in number of band 5’s staff nurses and replacing with a lower grade on floor level. More changes to come in new year.

It is called a reorganisation, moving resources so they can be used more efficiently - do you have a question?0

This is it; usually there's a commitment to take on private work whilst going from 7 to 8a, unpaid. I know of a number of occasions where departments have had their private work (Saturday morning, every 6 weeks) integrated into their daily work. That's £330 down in this department alone, every 6 weeks.
