How do you convert png to jpeg?

Comments

  • What system are you using? What photo package have you got?

If you are using Windows you can use the PAINT for example. If you use a mac you can use PixelMatorfor example. Simply load it into a photo editor (like those mentioned) and then re-SAVE it as a jpf file.....the SAVE or SAVEAS file requester (dialog / message box) will have a FILE TYPE dropdown menu of some sort stating JPG, PNG, TIF and so on.

P.s; I bet my mind reading skills were wrong......I bet you are using an iPad or something!!!!

Which program are you using to view the jpeg?

E.g if I was using Paint.NET or M.S. Paint, most are similar, I'd open the .png via the program, then go to 'Save As', usually one of the options on a drop down menu on the top line.
Then from the little drop down triangle at the right hand end of the 'Save as type' box select 'jpeg'
    Move along, nothing to see.

    or try something like this
How do I add a signature?
  • I use Irfanview. It can display and convert all image formats and can be setup with a shell extension so that a right click menu allows instant file conversion between common formats.

Jpg images have quality levels, such as 100% or lower for smaller file sizes. Jpg is a lossy format so the image will lose some quality each time it is saved in jpg format. Png is lossless so the quality is always as the original although the file size is often larger.

    Irfanview is freeware.

Thanks for all the responses and apologies for not responding before now.

I was attempting to convert the photos for a friend who was giving a digital photo frame as a Christmas present to their friend who was already sitting in their house. They had approximately 54 photos on their iphone which they wanted to put on to the digital photo frame and I thought there would have been a quicker way than the way I eventually found which was to open each picture and then save it as a jpeg. The friend was delighted with the gift and my friend was elighted that I got it done for them.

    Thanks for all the responses.

Doesn't the frame have a usb socket, memory slot or bluetooth entrance? How did you get them onto the frame?

There generally is a quicker way, it's called Batch Convert, but with no clue as you wanting to do a lot in one go, nor what program you were using, or computer, or tablet or indeed iphone, no one could mind read this properly ;)

It had a usb port and a memory slot.

The person had transferred the photos from their iphone to a laptop. They had a micro SD memory card and an adaptor. I opened each photo individually and then clicked file, save as, and saved the format as jpeg and I also saved all the photos to the memory card which had been inserted into the laptop. Then when I placed the memory card into the photo frame displayed all the photos.

    HTH!

On my Mac, I usually rename from XX.png to XX.jpg, then my photo frame, which won't see png files, reads them happily.
