  • Kinda glad I cancelled my policy with them... sounds like I got off lightly paying £50 to cancel a policy that hadn't even started yet...
  • My premium, when I renewed a few weeks ago on the 5th Dec, actually went down with Hastings.

Only £30 but a surprise seeing as I had to add on a motorway speeding fine.

Thanks, your customer relations dept is now dealing with it.
  • Hastings Direct, as most insurers and financial services are in the UK, are governed by the FCA and the FOS.

If you aren't happy with the resolution your bank or insurer have given you, you can take your complaint to the Finanical Ombudsman Service. They are impartial, free and will most likely charge FD just for looking into the complaint.

I work for customer services for a bank and if people aren't happy with our products, they're welcome to complain, if they arent happy with the resolution we give to their complaint, then they can take it to the FOS.

They will be honest with you though, so if they don't think you have any ground to stand on, they will reject your complaint. If they do though, you could get compensation or a satisfactory resolution.

Your advice is sound, albeit nearly one year late! :T
