Went to Boots this morning to pick something up and had a look at what vouchers are available, it showed 25% off mouthwash, shampoo, shower gel and deodorant. I know some have been mentioned on hukd but the mouthwash hasn't.
All have certain things half price at the mo so with vouchers should get them at 25% of original cost.
Never had a 25% voucher from the machine before.0 -

Just getting ready to head to T's. This shall be my last trip to T's until at least Friday (unless a glitch comes up of course) Keeping a spreadsheet and keeping track of what I'm actually spending in T's and A's is a bit  :rotfl:
But need some essentials today such as bread and milk and a couple of veggies and that'll be us sorted 'til the weekend, plenty of whoopsies in the freezer so shall work on getting that down as well.
The spreadsheet is very revealing - I only bought the bare essentials over the last week, used up APGS, TPP and mocs and yet the totals are still gob smacking. The most I spend at one time is £20 but all of the small bits add up.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
Afternoon all.
I've been to the hospital for another of pollys check up's - all fine :T I've spent so much time there lately!
Hope things get better for you MarkZ (I did pm you). I've first hand experience of epilepsy, got diagnosed at aged 28 (7 years ago) but apart from taking daily medication and losing my license for a year, all has been fine :T Epilepsy.org.uk is a fabulous website for advice and support. My story was a bit different though cos it had been going on for 4 years with no diagnosis, I used to get shooting pains through my head and worried myself sick it was a brain tumour so when epilepsy was diagnosed, I was actually relieved!
to cut a long story short, it doesn't have to impact your life long term and there is lots of support available if you need it. sending you a bit hug though as I'm sure you are stressing out.
On another note, I need to organise a S v A/T shop and a T shopTiger
I'm a body double for Claudia Schiffer and i wont get out of bed for less than [STRIKE]£10k per day[/STRIKE] a 1p find0 -

Been quiet for the last couple of days because I had a dilemma. My dear dad who died just nearly 4 years ago owned a holiday home in France. He spent almost half of the year there after he retired and divorced my mother and he loved it dearly. When he died I inherited it. I went there about a month after he died but it was a bit soon for me to decide what to do with it so I pretty much mothballed the place. He was friendly with a local man who agreed to 'care take' the place for me. I paid him twice year ever since in return for him sorting out a few minor maintenance issues, having the gardens done and passing on mail etc.
I have pretty much buried my head in the sand about the place after that. I had hoped back then we may grow to love it as our holiday home in years to come? maybe. But as my Oh wont leave the house, never mind board a plane that's unlikely:(. Anyway, I had a letter from dads caretaker friends daughter to tell me he had passed away:( so I now have no choice but to face up to it and sort it out.
I have a colleague who has a friend who deals in property on the continent and I have been in touch with him. My choices are basically....keep it and pay someone to maintain it. Rent it out as a holiday let ( Im not keen on that), or sell it. So I've spent all night looking for flights and am going there on Thursday next week. I will attend the funeral of my dads friend, have a good look at the place and decide what I want to do.
I feel very heavy hearted about it. I think once I deal with it my last ties with my dad will be gone:(....that makes me feel very sad. But if I think about it practically we have been living off a diminishing amount if savings fir 6 months and whatever I decide, this could be a source of income
Sorry for a long post. My OH just looks at me with a blank face when I try to discuss with him.....he has lost track of what's what financially:o
Just working my way backwards and catching up and I saw your post FC.
As long as you have your memories your ties to your dad will never be gone
My first thoughts on reading the above were that you could use the property as a long term income if you rented it out. Maybe approach a lettings company/holiday cottage type place. They do pretty much everything for you and you receive a regular income whilst retaining future capital. You say you are not keen on this - but do you have any specific reasons for not doing it? Can those reasons be overcome?
You never know what the future holds and your husband may one day be able to board that plane and you can start to take holidays there (assuming it is the sort of place you would want to go).
Or you could bite the bullet now and arrange to sell which would free up capital to boost your savings. It would also free you of a burden that you may not even realise you are carrying.
You could pay someone to maintain it for you but for how long?
How much would that cost and could you afford it long term?
Mothballing properties for too long can accumulate problems as property doesn't like to be empty. It could prove costly down the line to keep it unoccupied.
It can be difficult to put practical head on at times, and my starting point would be to ask myself what do I want to do with it. In an ideal world what would my preferred outcome be and is it achievable.
Just my thoughts0 -
