I eat mature cheddar cheese months out of date, as figure that's how it became cheese in the first place
- as long as it looks ok and smells ok (not mouldly cheddar or rancid).
I wouldn't give to children but as I only have a bit at a time, cheese lasts me a long time.clucky1977 wrote: »Hi
Ive put mine in the freezer, lasts much longerx

Does it taste the same and must you eat immediately after defrosting?
Hi Evangeline
In my experience if the cheese has been vaccum packed and sealed and use by date was say Oct, it has been ok to use in Dec. Once opened I would use within 2/3 weeks.
If frozen the texture tends to get a bit more crumbly, but fine for cooking. Just seen zippy's post re grating, that's a good idea.
Talking about cooking, need to make a batch of soup from the turkey stock - so will stop putting it off and sort out now.0 -
Afternoon all :hello:
Miles behind again, been too busy the last couple of days.
Been having a productive morning though. Gutted my room and DD's, cleaned the bathroom, tackled the huge pile of clean washing that was needing sorted and put away and am now on the 2nd load that needed washed.
Just stopped to put my feet up for 5 minutes and have a catch up
Next on the list is to do the living room and kitchen, not sure if I'll get that far though, my enthusiasm is starting to dwindle!
Thinking about going for a wander round A's and T's later as well, to see if there is anything exciting happening or any bargains to be had...those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.
