Praise - espares.co.uk & DPD couriers

Options
Would just like to say thank you to the guys at espares.co.uk and the courier company DPD.

My oven door shattered into a million pieces last Thursday evening, which, once I'd managed to process what had happened, made me think Christmas dinner was going to be a little bit of a problem!

Found a replacement door on espares.co.uk and called them first thing Friday morning - they confirmed they could ship it the same day and have it delivered on Christmas eve. True to their word - accurate and easy to understand email updates confirming it had been shipped, through the courier company DPD.

DPD tracking number came through the same evening, by SMS and email - and once again plenty of easy to follow updates on their Tracking site - along with their 'Predict' system which texts you an estimated 1 hour delivery timeslot on the day of the delivery, along with the delivery drivers name! Door arrived perfectly within the timeslot they sent me.

Oven now fixed and Christmas is back on! Thank you!

  • I really like DPD -- I have praised their service on here before. You still get deliveries "between 8 am and 8 pm" from some other couriers. They should all follow the DPD example.

I wish more retailers would give the option of using DPD, alot of times I would be willing to pay more for this service given the chance.

I'll echo the love for DPD, possibly the best courier out there for price/performance (I don't use UPS or Ged-ex enough to know what they're like, but DPD is the best out of the others imo).

Their delivery updates "your package should arrive between X.xx and y.yy" messages are spot on (I think I've spotted the driver sat in his van waiting for the start of the slot in the past).

It sounds like Espares were also very good and efficient :)

had the same experience with a replacement washing machine door seal, espares and DPD were faultless and very quick....the time, sweat and swearing involved in the physical replacement of the seal was a completely different story :D
  • The problem with DPD couriers is that, in effect, it's not one company. The reputation of their business relies on self-employed drivers being able to do their job and, a lot of the time it seems, they're not able to.

My own experience of them is very poor.
