Dance Class Refunds

Hello lovely people!
I have been attending a dance class since the beginning of the year, the classes are split into terms (running alongside the school terms). You pay for each term in advance.
I paid for my last term, the 2 classes at the end of the term were cancelled due to teacher absence. I have asked for a refund but have been refused as the 'class was run at considerable loss' to the dance school. I have been offered 2 replacement classes, however I had already decided to stop taking classes as my original teacher had been replaced and the class description changed.
Can anyone tell me my rights with regards to receiving a refund? It seems somewhat unfair that I should have to compensate for the dance school's inability to successfully promote the class.
Thank you in advance!

You should be refunded. You have paid for something that you have not had.
It is not your problem that the class is running at a loss, they should charge the correct fees instead of ripping people of for two classes.
I'd start by telling them what you want and what you will do if you don't get it.
If they offer more classes, politely refuse and confirm you paid for the ones in X month and X date.
Think about contacting Trading Standards and maybe look at Money Claim Online.
I'd suggest a formal letter may just do the trick if the costs are smaller (under 1000's) and I'm sure the class won't want hassle.
Equally your not going back so you can go as far as necessary.

The fact the classes are being run at a loss is unfortunate, but irrelevant. You are entitled to a refund of the cancelled classes and if they fail to remedy the fact the description has been changed can rescind from the contract altogether.0

Are we talking about a lot of money ? They have offered to replace the two cancelled sessions but you have decided to not go again.
Classes can get cancelled for various reasons and there is not much they can do apart from rescheduling them and it probably will have said that on the terms and conditions..
Personally I would just let it go.I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0
