Worldpay pay as you go

thanks all for your help. i have gone ahead and applied. The higher fee isnt a problem and outweighs the cost and time of banking cash and cheques.
Ill report back and let you know how i get on.0 -
It is aimed specifically at small businesses, fees are not unreasonable at 3.3% for CC and 65p for debit cards. One limiting factor is that you are limited to taking a max of £25,000 pa.
A business that takes mainly CC and is likely to reach this figure could be better off using a provider who charged a monthly fee coupled with lower comission rates.0 -
I pay 1.25% on credit cards & .17p per transaction on debit cards.
HTH
Further to your subsequent post, the above is misleading as you are also charged a monthly fee of £22.50 + vat and you do not mention the contract length or any tie-ins.
So a small no-vat reg sole trader who has say 20 debit card transaction cards a month would effectively be paying £1.52 per transaction (not 17p) compared to 65p.
The "break even point" under such a scenario would be 56 debit card transactions every month (again, this excludes any tie-ins etc).0 -
Thanks for the feedback.
I'm just a bit reluctant to pay a monthly fee. As this will be my first time at accepting cards I am just trying to gauge the response. I am a tradesman and work in people homes so need a virtual / mobile type terminal. This is why the worldpay pay a you go is of interest as if I don't get any customers wanting to use cards, then I won't be locked into a contract and won't have wasted money on set up fees.
Sensible course of action.....I think you will find that as soon as people realise you take cards more & more people will use that method of payment.
Big plus factor with cards is that they don't bounce ( well, not as much as cheques)
Also you don't have to mess about going to the bank to deposit cash, cheques etc.0 -
Hey All
Quick update. I got accepted for this and the reader arrived today. FREE! as advertised. Its a very professional looking piece of kit compared to the ones you plug into your phone. Will report back when its had some use.0 -
Has anyone been able to use a printer with this app?
I have paired a Citizen CMP-10BT & Brother MW-140BT but they don't show up in the app am i doing something wrong?0 -
I have always found bluetooth printing to be a bit hit and miss, although haven't tried it in conjunction with the worldpay terminal yet (currently don't have a bluetooth printer!) but I'm more inclined to use the sms receipts unless a hand written one is required. Saves paper and messing around!0

I used my WP terminal on my iPad for the first time last Friday. It was in my account on the following Thursday. So you should have it within 4 working days.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
thanks phil99:beer:
A few of the small traders, and groups were asking about it, as some of them have a contract car machine.. so will be switching when their contract comes to an end..
I was lucky I had the machine for free, but even at the current price of £59.99 I would buy one..
By having the machine it def increased my sales.. some people where umming and arring, due to the high price, they asked if were took card payments, and as soon as we said yes, some customers even bought another one:T:T:T
so for us we only do a few events a year... it is BRILLIANT!!!!Work to live= not live to work0
