Everyone thought Mitchell was guilty, mainly due to a misguided trust in the police. However it looks pretty likely the whole thing was a stitch up by the police. It's one of the most surprising stories of the year. It baffles me the stupidity of the policeman involved. How did he think he would get away with pretending to be a witness on such a public story?
