  • Also after browsing Adopt-a gifts on Amazon (adopt a puppy is £5.99 atm if that helps anyone. Thinking about it for DS who wants a dog but a real one is not an option!) and thought its worthwhile to keep checking the adopt a reindeer sets as even if its still the ones we all got in July they had a register by date of 2014 so would still be good for next Christmas? The lowest I bought one for was £3.03 but according to camelcamelcamel.com the lowest it went was £2.79 in July 2012 which is an even more amazing price! Ive put it on a price watch so hopefully the price will drop at some point. :) Id grab some for Postpals (www.postpals.co.uk) children if they drop in price again!

hello all you lovely ladies with a fitbit. I am thinking of getting one each for me and OH as we both need to lose weight. all your enthusiasm has rubbed off on me and I am well impressed with it. however I was wondering if you could tell me exactly what it is used for. Is it a way of tracking weight loss and exercise? do you need to use it in conjunction with a weightloss programme to control what you eat. My question is you can track all you like but if you are not doing anything to rectify it it is a waste of money.

Hi bunbun. You're right, it is just a tracker - it doesn't give you electric shocks to make you run around or anything - which is quite a shame as that's just what I need :rotfl:

It tracks your steps and floors climbed, and calculates the calories you are burning - so you can then monitor what you eat and make sure it's less calories than you have burnt. If you do any extra exercise and tell it when you started and stopped it will check its "records" so to speak and tell you how many extra calories you burnt. It also tracks your sleep patterns and so tells you how long it takes you to get to sleep and whether you wake up a lot at night.

    Hope that helps.

    thank you!

OH is going to rejoin the gym but trying to get him to eat less and more healthily is hard. I suppose if the fitbit shows how many calories he has burnt it would be there in black and white iyswim and he would need to adjust his exercise/eating accordingly.

Happy new year everyone! I've just got my new diary out and put all the important dates - birthdays, anniversaries and stuff - in, and in the process of making a nice long list of who and what I need to buy, and when for.

Tried putting in an order with Boots this evening, site just wouldnt work for me at all.

I'm also waiting for the Adopt-a packs to come down a little, as well as the winter bits and bobs although that won't be for a month or two yet.

I had that problem yesterday. Items were listed as being in stock but when I tried to add them to my basket it said they were no longer available. I gave up.
