Shell FuelSave shortage?

I don't fill up very often, but 3 months ago I filled up at my local Shell garage, only to notice what can only be described as small print on the pump label, part way through filling up (reading something along the lines of 'this is not Shell FuelSave Regular Unleaded, rather Shell Regular Unleaded').

The only reason I use Shell fuel (at a premium price over other local options) is that I find it gives me a bigger saving (via improved fuel economy) than going to the cheapest garage to pay 2 or 3 pence less at the pump, so this obviously was rather annoying - especially when Shell advertise that all their fuels are now the FuelSave stuff (not to mention that I was standing under a huge FuelSave banner at the time!).

Anyway, this made me more aware of it, so when filling up last week, I decided to visit all my local Shell garages to see if they had it and they again didn't (so I topped up at their cheaper competition instead).

I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed/was aware of this?

So to save money you have driven around (wasting fuel, time and money)a load of different Shell stations today to read the small print. Mate, you have got to get yourself a girlfriend!

Shell never produced evidence that Fuelsave was actually beneficial. If the price difference is as you say then even taking Shell's best estimate figures you were only saving 40p per £60 fill-up, which would be negated next time you put your foot down away from the lights.

    He has one now.

In fact he is now going out with three girls, all of whom work at Shell garages. :D

Or boys if he is a she.

Anyway, judging by his one post in 3 years and your 4,000 posts in four years, he might not be the one most in need of a date. :p

I'm married so that explains and excuses my 27,000 posts. :D

Fuelsave is just marketing... at most they claimed it to be 1 litre of fuel over a full tank which is almost impossible to prove to be true.

I used to fill up at Shell as it was on my way to work, now Sainsburys is and I seem to put the same amount of fuel in (but get nectar points now).

Not sure if it was the shell stuff.

But one of the fuel companies had to pull their adverts after complaints that people were not getting an improvement in MPG.
