Hi - Some advice please

Have sent off first letter to HSBC requesting refund using the template from this website. Got the standard reply within a week.
The second letter is lined up and ready to go recorded delivery on Tues, as I don't believe HSBC will be paying out before then. More charges have been added on since and another I missed off in my first letter will be added on to a supplementary sheet which will be attached to the letter. I found a template letter on the BBC which asks the bank to detail its charges and supply a full breakdown. Seems to be a vicious letter which I am thinking of using for my LBA.
What do you think?
Also - am thinking of suing Halifax for charges raised on an old bank account with them which has since been closed. But I have a mortgage with BoS. Will the mortgage be jeopardised because I asked for a refund on the defunct Halifax account? Any help/advice welcome - Thanks!

You can ask them to break down their charges but I doubt they will
You can claim on closed accounts and the mortgage account shouldnt be affected as it is a different account and agreement altogether.
They may attempt the Right Of Set Off against any arrears you have on the mortgage though, if this applies to you. See here for more information:

I dont think it is likely but if it does happen and you wish to stop them doing it then you must seek further advice. The Financial Ombudsman would be the best place to start with a complaint about it. Good luck
