Share Portfolio

In the last 12 months i have started a high yield share portfolio with the stocks below, now i have a decent amount of UK stocks i am thinking about investing in stocks abroad mainly i the USA again high yielding stocks. What do you think about this stratergy as i understand a certain percentage of the dividend will automatrically be lost due to a tax from the US? Also any further advice/feedback? A bit about my situation i am 24 years old so looking at keeping these stocks and re investing the dividends and hopefully watching these compound over many years

My Currect UK stocks

Diageo
British American Tabacco
Rolls Royce
vodafone
British Land
Tesco
Glaxo
BP
BAE
SAB Miller
Shell
Rangold resources
HSBC
BHP
Rio Tinto
RSA
Admiral

i know the UK stocks are nothing out of the ordinary but have picked the majority due to a decent dividend

the US stocks i am interested in are

boeing
lockheed martin
starbucks
las vegas sands corp
mgm resorts international
under armour
american express
home depot
craft
mcdonalds
coca cola

and a few others

I have also looked at the HSBC american tracker which is only 0.25 amc i am thinking the tracker will be alot cheaper?

How much do you invest in each share?

If you wish to hold shares in a particular sector why not use a collective fund to invest? Dividend yield alone isn't the basis of sound investment decisions.

There are not so many high yield stocks in the US - I think the average is around 2% compared to 3.7% here.

If you want some exposure for diversification how about an investment trust like Blackrock N. American Income (BRNA).

In Asia, around 1/3 of companies pay dividends over 4% so investment trusts like Henderson Far East or Schroder Oriental would be worth investigating.

Your UK portfolio looks v. good - possibly consider Unilever and Reckitt?

Finally, you may find this article on MI helpful (other good articles on the blog also)

ah uniliver that is on my list to invest into next my mistake i forgot that, the more i look into this i believe a tracker or investment trust for the US and far east look a better option than a specific company.

    thanks for your feedback
