VENT AND PRAISE - yodel and boots.com

I ordered £200 worth of christmas goodies from boots.com and ordered on a next day delivery for the 15th Dec.

The goods didn't arrive - so at 5pm on the delivery day I called customer services who said they'd get in touch with the driver and call me back.

Had a call back the next morning (sunday the 16th) and yodel had a signature 'brig' and a description from the driver saying he'd left the goods with a young 20 year old man who answered the door called brig.

I disputed this and advised I have a buzzer and was in and that I was the only one to answer the door at all on the delivery day (I am in a communal set of 8 flats - but right at the bottom nearest the door) I also trapsed up and down my road knocking and asking at the neighbours just incase they'd delivered it there - nothing.

Customer services then said that i'd need to fill in some forms and return them by post - which got me quite upset as I advised them even if they posted me the forms then i'd not be able to return them in time to get my goods for christmas - escalated to a customer care manager.

Manager was really lovely and arranged delivery of my goods for tuesday the 18th with a different courier - also refunded my delivery charge and sent me an extra present for myself.

The goods turned up fine on tuesday and on the same day I had another call from customer services to say they had located my parcel which had been delivered to the wrong address with someone elses order at the other side of the city - the guy is not called brig and is def not in his 20's - boots arranged for that parcel to be collected and are looking into the false delivery signature and record.

I'm very happy with how boots have dealt with everything and glad I got my goods in time for christmas - but very peeved with yodel. Feel the driver had really lied badly and if he'd just been honest and said he'd lost my parcel things would've been even quicker.

I'd be reluctant to use a company that have yodel as the delivery company in future but would recommend boots.com to anyone.

I've had Amazon parcels that Yodel "claimed" were signed for by a mr Brannan , had someone at the address all day that day and they did not sign for any parcels ;)

After escalating to amazon the parcels suddenly appeared down the side of my house the next day , the same person who was in the day before spotted them as they opened the side door but no-one had knocked

    currently not using Amazon

  • It's a shame really - I posted on facebook about my 'yodel' issue and seems there have been loads of problems

Not the companies to fault - but they should maybe look at using a different courier - I have written to boots.com advising of this and requesting my orders are sent using a different courier in future and I wouldn't want yodel near them

I doubt their system is setup to handle your request. Amazon definitely can't, the system chooses the courier it things is best to send that item, usually the cheapest which results in it being Hermes or Yodel most of the time.

I think they only way we will get rid of Yodel is if they go under, companies will continue to use them because they are so cheap.
