Sky - Misquoted

Long story short, when I checked my bills I have been charged £10 more every month. Checked it out and they said I was due a £10 discount for month one only, and I can see where it says that.

However, where I have an issue is that when I placed my order it said the monthly price after offers would be £10 lower, similarly when I received my order confirmation and my first bill they all quoted the lower price.

Therefore my argument is that when I signed up I did so on the basis that I would be paying the lower price. Indeed I am quite price savvy and if I had been quoted the higher price I probably would not have signed up.

Customer services are just repeating the same line to me, I wrote to complaints and they just asked me to call customer services! :(

So is there anybody else I can contact either in Sky or a regulator type of organisation who will help me get this resolved?

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Which is what exactly? What was the deal you were quoted and do you have evidence of this?
  • CS say discount first month only. I have evidence of the price quoted at point of sale - monthly price after offers - which is £10 lower than the price they want to charge me. I sent this and copies of e-mails quoting the same price to complaints without anything happening at all.

But have you evidence that the discount applies for a whole year going forward rather than the first month only?
  • No, but I have evidence of the price I was quoted. As a consumer I can only go by the price I have been quoted.

But you only have evidence that the amount is £10 cheaper (which it was) not for how long that discount applied.

If you have no proof of how long the £10 discount was for then you have no complaint.

If you can see where it says the £10 was for 1 month only, you probably don't have much come back, and should have questioned it at that point.

Sky may be willing to offer some goodwill gesture though, so could be worth pursuing!
  • OK, so you go on a website, and it says that you will pay £X/month.

Then several months later you find out that you need to pay £X/month plus £10/month. You are told £X only applied to month one.

However, at no time during the original ordering process were you made aware that your ongoing monthly price would include £10/month.

    How can that be fair?

I didn't notice it at the time, I took my guide from the section where it said 'Monthly price after offers'! I have only noticed it when it was pointed out to me.

You have no complaint because you didn't read the offer and/or T&C's properly.

I'm not sure how you think you can change this :/
